Long ago the sun became angry with the people and sent a great sickness so the Little Men turned a man into a monster to go and kill her. This monster is known as Uktena, The Keeneyed. This floor cloth, which represents the artifact seen below from around 1000 AD, documents this story on 100% cotton canvas that has the supple feel of leather.
This monster was described as snake-like, as big around as a tree trunk, had scales that sparkled like fire, horns and spit a poisonous venom. It lived in the deep dark pools of water in lakes and rivers and could also be encountered at dark lonely passes in the Great Smokey Mountains. Stories of the Uktena are hauntingly like descriptions of Megalania, a giant lizard, known to roam Australia thousands of years ago.
As a wall hanging, desk mat, floor cloth or placemats, this artifact shows no colors, leaving the canvas open for a custom piece done either in a tradional or modern interpretation.
