The ant people figure largely in Navaho art. It is said that the first man found very small yellow arts who were in communication with the small black ants of the tenth world. These legendary ants may appear as colorful armies in a larger piece or in pairs as the two in this picture of a placemat. This placemat could be created to coordinate with the Navaho 1883 floor cloth. The ant people would also make a stunning wallhanging.
